Taiho Shichauzo!

Natsumi is the tough one; the best biker in town.
Miyuki is the machine expert - a real cool “mecha freak”.
This charming but dangerous duo causes chaos at every turn
as they fight crime and injustice on the streets of downtown Tokyo.
Taiho Shichauzo! (better known for its English title, You’re Under Arrest!), the first serial manga made by the reknowned author Fujishima Kosuke, is a story about Kobayakawa Miyuki and Tsujimoto Natsumi, two beautiful police officers working for the Traffic Control Department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Bokuto Station. Best friends, roommates, and highly effective partners who complement each other nicely despite the huge differences in their personalities, they roam the streets of Tokyo’s Sumida Ward in Miyuki’s personally customized Honda Today, chasing after traffic violators and apprehending them in their own peculiar way.
Although it could be classified as a police drama, the series deviated from the usual type of shows that concentrate on too much action, opting instead to give the viewer a refreshing, “behind the scenes” look at the lighter side of law enforcement. Through various “files”, the manga and the anime chronicles Miyuki and Natsumi’s adventures and misadventures with their colleagues as they went about with their everyday lives.
A series with a well-blended mixture of cars and motorcycles along with a solid and endearing cast of characters, and dashed with liberal amounts of light-hearted comedy that had been added with a spoonful of romance, Taiho Shichauzo! proves that one does not need to have an extremely complex plot for it to be able to catch the attention of so many fans, both men and women, adult and child alike. Perhaps this is why the series has been doing quite well in its native Japan, popular enough for the anime to have spawned a movie and even reach a third season despite the fact that the original OVA series had ended since 1995; and for the series to actually have radio dramas and even its very own live-action TV show.
